The large dining fork is a piece of cutlery from the Thai brand Rangthong, designed by Jaivid Rangthong. The fork is made of stainless steel and produced in Thailand using traditional methods that reflect the country’s craftsmanship traditions. Both the handle and fork head are forged from a single piece of steel, creating a solid and durable construction. The handle undergoes a special treatment where it is blackened over an open flame, giving it a tactile surface and creating a visual contrast against the polished metal. The design is inspired by traditional Thai craftsmanship and tools historically used in agriculture. The balance between raw and refined surfaces gives the fork a distinct expression. Since 1984, the Rangthong collection has been part of the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection in New York, representing a fusion of function, tradition, and design.
