Marcel Wanders was born in 1963 in Boxtel, the Netherlands, and is an internationally recognised product and interior designer. He had his big breakthrough with his Knotted Chair, which he designed for Droog Design in 1996, and in the same year he also opened his studio in Amsterdam.
In addition to running his studio, Wanders is co-founder and artistic director of the prominent design brand Moooi. But Wanders has also designed for a long list of other famous brands: Flos, Alessi, Cappellini, B&B Italia, Moroso, Magis and Louis Vuitton, among others. His designs are represented in collections and exhibitions around the world, including MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the V&A Museum in London.
Marcel Wander's designs clearly stand out from the crowd. His designs are in the spirit of play, often combining classic lines with playful shapes and forms, creating interesting and iconic products for modern people.
