Kasper Salto is a Danish industrial designer who was born in Copenhagen in 1967. Salto first trained as a cabinetmaker in 1988 and went on to study at the Danish Design School, graduating in 1994. During his studies at the Danish Design School, he also spent a semester at the College of Design in Switzerland.
In 1998 Salto opened his own design studio and he has since worked with brands such as Fritz Hansen, DubaB8, Engelbrechts and Lightyears. For Fritz Hansen, Salto has designed the Ice, Little Friend and NAP series. The Ice collection includes tables and chairs. Little Friend is a multifunctional table and the NAP collection is a series of stackable chairs. The NAP chair has won several awards, including the Danish Design Award in 2010 and the Design Week Award in 2011. Kasper Salto was awarded The Finn Juhl Prize in 2010 for his outstanding work.
In 2003, Salto founded the design studio Salto & Sigsgaard together with architect Thomas Sigsgaard. Their first work was the desk lamp NOSY, which was launched in 2008. Salto has also started producing furniture, and won the first prize in the Danish Art Foundation's New Furniture for the UN competition.
