La Marie was created by Philippe Starck for Kartell in 1999 and is the first chair in the world to be made entirely of transparent polycarbonate. La Marie is produced in a fully molded form and is available in three shades of purple, yellow, and orange besides the crystal clear version. The chair follows Kartells whimsical design line and looks great in a group of several colors together around the dining table.
La Marie has a sturdy and stable structure that complements the lightness of the transparent material. The polycarbonate is developed after extensive research and the result is a very durable chair. La Marie is the predecessor of the popular Ghost series by Philippe Starck, which is created in the same material but with a different design in the classic Baroque style.
