Pelican Chair - With Buttons is a chair designed by Finn Juhl from 1940. The surrealist chair was launched by the House of Finn Juhl in 2001 during a time when it was almost completely forgotten because so many copies were produced during Finn Juhl's lifetime. The chair is characterized by its organic and sculptural form, which gives the impression that the Pelican Chair with buttons embraces you like a friendly hug. The chair is upholstered in fabric and comes with a seat cushion. The legs of the chair are available in either oak or walnut. This version of the Pelican Chair comes with buttons but is also available in a version without buttons under the name Pelican Chair.
The Pelican Chair was first shown at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition in 1940. The chair stood out with its unusual shape and strong legs. Pelican Chair - With Buttons is a good example of Finn Juhl's design and how far ahead of his time he was. The iconic chair fits into most modern interiors and can easily be combined with the Pelican Table from the same series and the Poet Sofa from 1941.
