MR01 Initial Chair is an armchair designed by Mathias Rasmussen for Gubi in 2021. The chair has a frame with a distinctive silhouette made of solid oak or walnut. Whether you choose oak or walnut, the surface is oiled, giving the wood a pleasant and tactile feel. The seat and backrest are made of flagline, which gives the chair an equally airy and comfortable feel. The MR01 Initial Chair looks great in a group or on its own and can be combined with many types of sofas and styles.
Although MR01 Initial Chair has a contemporary and modern design, it recalls Danish design classics such as The Hunting Chair by Børge Mogensen from 1950 and PK25 designed by Poul Kjaerholm in 1951. With MR01 Initial Chair, Rasmussen combines traditional craftsmanship with simple forms that feel familiar yet modern at the same time.
