Fritz Hansen's great Series 7 was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955 and comes as a bar stool in two sizes, models 3187 and 3197, suitable for a kitchen bench or bar table. The Series 7 bar stool has the same design as the original, with the characteristic shell in molded veneer but with extra high legs with footrest.
The shell is created in one piece, consisting of nine layers of pine layered with two layers of Indian cotton and pressed into its exact shape. This has given the Series 7 its thin and stylish shell, which is made from a single piece of wood, the backing can also be flexed, adding to the elevated level of comfort. The chair is available in a range of woods and colors, with a painted, clear lacquered or fully lacquered finish. A lacquered finish leaves the natural texture of the wood visible, making each chair unique. With a fully varnished finish, every chair is identical. The legs are made of chrome-plated steel.
The Series 7 has become Fritz Hansen's most sought-after chair in history and although over 60 years have passed since its launch, the design is still innovative thanks to Jacobsen's early design inspiration. Nordiska Galleriet was the first recipient of Series 7 in Sweden, and the chair is currently one of the most sought-after pieces. Its popularity speaks volumes about its iconic status, with form, function, and modern design history making it a design icon and favorite with us. Series 7 is available as a dining chair, office chair, bar stool, armchair and in children's sizes. Choose from a range of natural veneers, solid ash, or solid beech in a wide selection of colors. The bar stool is available with or without a cover.
