NO GA introduces collections by Swedish designers Axel Wannberg and Sami Kallio

During Stockholm Design Week, NO GA launches new designs by Sami Kallio and Axel Wannberg, two Swedish designers and cabinet makers known for their hands-on approach to design and craftsmanship.

Lamp 53 by Axel Wannberg was originally crafted in wood as part of an exhibition during Stockholm Design Week 2023. It has now been developed for production in metal. The NO GA version of Lamp 53 is welded with precision to create smooth yet sharp angles. The lamp is characterized by a 53-degree angle, from which it takes its name. Axel Wannberg runs his design studio and woodworking workshop in Stockholm, where he focuses on crafting unique pieces for private commissions, as well as small-scale, hands-on production of limited series.

NO GA also introduces the Empire Chair by Sami Kallio. Inspired by 1920s architecture. The chair features a frame made of solid ash paired with a woven seat crafted from custom-made webbing produced in Sweden. Its clean lines and natural finish highlight the wood’s texture and grain. Like Wannberg, Kallio is trained as a designer and furniture carpenter, honing his skills in traditional woodworking. His designs combine modern industrial techniques with handcrafted methods to create furniture that is long-lasting and resource efficient.

“I always start with a detail, which takes shape in the workshop. With the Empire Chair, I started with the back legs of the chair, and then the rest grew,” Sami explains.

Sami has designed several classics over the years, always with the aim of creating furniture that is resource-efficient and long-lasting.

Lamp 53 and Empire Chair will be on sale at Nordiska Galleriet / NO GA showrooms and online from February 5.
